Why tyre pressure matters
Underinflation and overinflation can affect braking, fuel use, tyre wear, comfort, and highway safety.
3 min read
Low pressure creates heat
Underinflated tyres flex more and generate extra heat. That can increase fuel use, reduce tyre life, and raise the risk of tyre failure.
High pressure affects comfort and contact patch
Overinflated tyres can feel harsh and may wear more in the center. The tyre needs the correct pressure for the load and vehicle specification.
Check pressure when tyres are cold
Pressure readings are most accurate before driving or after the vehicle has been parked. Hot tyres can show higher readings.
