How to read your tyre size before asking for a quote

What 225/45R17, load index, speed rating, and production date mean when choosing replacement tyres.

Start with the size on the sidewall

A tyre size such as 225/45R17 tells the shop the tyre width, sidewall profile, construction type, and rim size. Sharing this exact number helps us check stock faster and prevents quoting the wrong fitment.

Check load and speed rating

The two or three digits after the tyre size show the load rating, and the letter after that shows the speed rating. These must suit the vehicle and driving conditions, especially for SUVs, performance cars, vans, and fleet vehicles.

Look for the DOT production date

The DOT date is usually a four digit code. For example, 2525 means the tyre was made in week 25 of 2025. In UAE heat, tyre age matters because rubber can harden and crack even when tread depth still looks acceptable.
